max(1, (mode base + enemy level − unit level) ÷ 2 + laguz bonus)

Levels count +20 for tier 2 and +40 for tier 3 beorc; transformed laguz count double. Exalted’s difficulty mapping isn’t documented.

Laguz experience

Tutorial

Upon reaching higher ranks, Laguz units will earn considerably less EXP when defeating Beorc, especially during Hard or Maddening mode.

However, they do not have an EXP penalty when fighting other Laguz units at a similar level.

It is therefore recommend to fight enemy Laguz with your own, earning them kills to increase their level further and obtain a higher rank.
